Working as a data analyst using various programs in order to retrieve, amend and analyse data. Primarily used software such as: Microsoft Word and Excel for reports and data analysis respectively, SQL for data gathering and filtering.

This role involved many areas of supporting tasks. The majority of the workload has been quality checking for various ABS documents and data. The remainder of my tasks were simple time-consuming jobs such as printing, sorting and ordering of shipments or supplies amongst others. This role has also afforded me the possibility of going to remote areas of Queensland and work with local teams.

October 2021 - March 2023

Data & Metadata Management Specialist (APS4)

A majority of the workload for this role involves working with the ABS internal publishing system to check, amend, add and remove information for an official publication. As of mid-November this role has transitioned into an admin / logistics position. This has required me to set up meetings, record meeting minutes, undertake database and data management, and provide support in tasks across various teams.

Data & Metadata Management Specialist (APS5)

This role started as a venture into machine learning and the ABS's manual data analysis and cleaning pipeline. With my programming background, this turned into a very explorative experience in improving the current pipeline of work for various data analysis/editing processes to greatly improve efficiency. The work over this period was half creating and iterating python based tools to replace manual processes, and half dataset creation, analysis, and manipulation for SVM machine learning models. These models being used to classify text to the various classifications and standards within the ABS.

October 2023 - Current

Data & Metadata Management Specialist (APS5)

This was a transition into a permanent position, continuing the work in data and machine learning. Starting with maintaining my Python codebase containing numerous data analysis, manipulation, and cleaning functions. My first project involving developing a bespoke solution to updating training datasets for machine learning models in line with classification updates. During this period I also took on a managerial role.
